CARE & BENEVOLENT MINISTRY

Darlene Piche

There comes a time in all of our lives when we need help from others. Our church strives to be there for those in our congregation (and sometimes elsewhere) who have real needs that they cannot handle alone.

The Bible tells us distinguish between the normal loads of life which we all should carry by saying “each one should carry his own load” Galatians 6:5. Yet it also tells us that there will be times in our lives when we are overcome by problems beyond our capacity to handle alone by saying “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” Galatians 6:2.

This ministry includes visits to hospitals and homes. It also involves reaching out in compassion during the unfortunate time of the death of a loved one. Our church conducts funeral services and often provides meals for the families during and after the funeral.

There are also times when disasters such as fires, floods etc take their toll and families they need practical help to get back on their feet. We have often helped with supplying clothes, furniture, food, reallocation costs and counselling during these difficult times.

Families or individuals also face difficult times due to employment changes, illnesses etc. We provide food vouchers for those in our church as well as visitation and counselling.

** NEW ** – We have introduced an addition to this ministry. Once a month (on the third Sunday of the month we will be having hundreds and hundreds of new items that have been donated to give away. These items are not to be resold. We are asking everyone to bring a non-perishable item that Sunday and put it in the blue box at the entrance. They will be given to the Salvation Army for their food bank.
